We are located in Duncan and typically serve Ladysmith, Chemainus, Duncan, Shawnigan, Westshore, Sooke and Victoria.
In a new build, windows should all be installed. We would typically schedule a drywall delivery for right after the insulators are finished. All necessary plumbing, electrical and last minute framing should be complete. Access to electricity and water is key for us to be able to work on the project.
In a repair scenario, we'd just need to make sure any furniture & household items are cleared from the area, and room is made for a dust quarantine if necessary.
We work with other drywall companies that need to hire a excellent finishing crew, as well as builders, home owners and business owners who may be building a new custom home or project, or are in need of drywall repairs.
For a new build, typically it would take a week or more depending on the size and complexity of the job. For example of there are drywall window returns, scaffold work, hundreds of feet of corner bead or a level 5 finish, those things can add days. Another factor is availability of heat, airflow and ventilation, which are the 3 key factors in mud drying quickly.
For a repair, anywhere from 2-4 days depending on the job. For simple touchups that don't require installation of new drywall, 2 days should be sufficient (depending on drying). In a situation that requires drywall installation, like a large hole, it would typically go as follows:
Day 1) Cut out any remaining damaged drywall, Install wood backing, install new drywall, Pre fill the new patch, tape the patch.
Day 2) Coat the patch
Day 3) Sand and coat
Day 4) Final sand
Many drywallers like to offer time saving & corner cutting methods such as taping and coating in one day, or using quick drying fast set mud. We do not recommend doing this if you prioritize a flawless finish that lasts without issue. However, if you prefer a quick "splash and dash" from someone who can do it with finesse, we can offer that upon request as well.
